If you're anything like me, you started a blog so you could share your story with the world.
You've done amazing things with your life (and hard things and smart things and stupid things) and you want to share everything you've learned.
So you start blogging and after a few months or a few years, people start asking when you're going to write a book.
You've thought about, but it's a scary thing. After all, blogging is so much easier! There's no selling on a blog. There's no requirement that everything you say is professional on a blog. You can be yourself and share your story without pressure.
But you've always wanted to write a book. Maybe that's why you started a blog in the first place even. You may have even started writing a book once or twice, but were overwhelmed and went back to what you're good at: blogging.
But you know you won't ever be content to just keep blogging. You want more.
I've wanted to write books for as long as I could remember.
I looked up to writers like Donald Miller and Jeff Goins who could tell incredible stories that inspired me to move and live a better life.
So in 2011 I started blogging with the sole purpose of one day publishing a book. Six years later, I finally achieved that goal.
By all accounts, A Beginner's Guide to Living in an RV was not the book I imagined publishing one day. None the less, my little self published book has sold more than 13,000 copies, has 180+ five-star Amazon reviews, and is consistently ranked as the #1 book on RV travel.
Before self publishing my book on Amazon I was terrified. Terrified people would hate it, terrified nobody would take me seriously and terrified of all the unknown factors standing between me and clicking "publish". Like I said, it took me six YEARS of blogging before I finally got the courage to publish.
In my head, I had built up writing a book as something you do after 40 years of experience and once Random House comes knocking on your door.
However, the truth is that the process of writing, launching, and marketing a book isn't only reserved for the elite few who sign six figure advance checks.
Writing and self-publishing a book also doesn't have to be a scary and overwhelming process.
I put together this course to help you turn your ideas, blog posts and message into a professional self-published book that's ready to be read by the world. I cover everything from how to validate your book idea (before writing it) to how to map out and plan your content (so you won't quit half-way through) and the tools and resources that will make your life a thousand times easier along the way.
In 2014, Alyssa Padgett convinced her husband Heath to take her to all 50 states for their honeymoon. Somehow he tricked her into doing it all in an RV. They've lived and traveled in an RV ever since.
Alyssa is the author of the best-selling book A Beginner's Guide to Living in an RV, a book all about how anyone can start traveling full-time.
When she's not writing, Alyssa can usually be found with a camera in her hand. She directed and produced Hourly America, a documentary film about her 50 state honeymoon, which was featured on CBS, CNN, Fox, People, Yahoo, Huffington Post, and more.
Alyssa firmly believes living in an RV means it's acceptable to eat s'mores every day.
This course is written specifically for bloggers. While many of the lessons and tutorials provided in the course will be helpful for anyone writing a book, the strategies and tactics are designed for bloggers looking to create their first product, establish their authority, and become an author.
Most bloggers don't make much money from their website. Sure you may get a few dollars from Amazon affiliates or maybe you sold an ebook on your site once. But generally, making money from a blog takes hours of effort in creating a product, developing strategies, and learning how to sell to your audience.
And it's never as easy as all those successful bloggers say it is!
In fact, it wasn't until I published my book last year—ahem, six years after I started blogging, if you recall—that I started making real income from my blog.
Writing a book is one of the best ways bloggers can monetize their website. It's a way to show off your expertise, share your story, and show the world that your blog isn't just a hobby—it's a business.
I spent countless hours on Google trying to figure out the messy process of successfully launching a book. I created this course to save you from pulling out your hair and wasting your time reading blog after blog with contradicting advice.
This course has six different modules with over 30 detailed lessons, from starting your book to continuing sales after you launch.
I cover everything I had to learn myself while writing my book. Things like:
And much more! It's everything I know about book publishing all in one place.
